Settling In

Well, the little King family is finally beginning to settle in at our new house.

Maddie has finally mastered the steps on the back porch and can go up them without any assistance! (Praise the Lord! I was really dreading having to help her up the steps all winter long.) She has had some traction problems on the floors... especially in the kitchen and master bedroom. We are going to have to get her some little shoes so doesn't slip down OR scratch the newly refinished floors.

Gidget and Rory have had a blast exploring the house and basement. Rory has learned how to tip-toe past Maddie on the hardwood floor without making any boards creak. Gidget is taking care of all the crickets in the basement. The cats are getting along well and playing together (although Rory is still hissy.) They are usually running around at top speed or sleeping. Rory seems to be working off some of her chub and Gidget is growing quickly so they are almost the same size now.

Last night Will and I got the last of our stuff from our apartment. We brought home a box marked "glasses" and unpacked it to put them in the dishwasher. We were very surprised to find that neither one of us recognized any of the glasses in the box. Somehow, we had a box of someone else's glasses. What's interesting is that some of the glasses actually matched our regular drinking glasses and there was an Epworth coffee mug in there. There was a mailing address on the box that was for someone on Craig Road which is where I lived before Will and I got married. The newspapers that the glasses were wrapped in were dated 2004. It seems that someone left this box in the house on Craig Road and it got mixed up with my stuff when I moved out. AND it seems that the box has been moved 3 TIMES without us opening it. We really need to go through our stuff! It was fun though to unwrap each piece to see what it was. It was a little like Christmas. We now have some fancy shot glasses, 2 glass mugs for Irish coffee, 3 random wine glasses, an Epworth coffee mug, a ceramic tea pot with dragonflies on it with 2 matching mugs, and some more of our drinking glasses.
