FINALLY!

After almost 3 VERY LONG years of working as a Foster Care Case Manager at Epworth, I have finally completed my hours for my counseling licensure. I mailed off my application on Thursday and will have to wait 6-8ish weeks for the committee to meet to approve it. The requirements for licensure are: all of the counseling courses that I took at Covenant, passing a national counseling exam, meeting with my supervisor weekly for at least two years, and accumulating 1200 direct client contact hours and 3,000 hours performing counseling duties.

Unfortunately, obtaining my license doesn't really change anything for me right now. Epworth is on a salary freeze and they don't have any therapist positions coming open any time soon. It does, however, make me a little more marketable for other counseling jobs that I may apply for. AND I will be able to put LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) after my signature. That's worth something.... right?
